Online registration for Tour de Gap 2013 is open. Head on over to BikeReg and get signed up for the 30th anniversary of Tour de Gap! It will take place on Saturday, July 27. The start and finish will be at the Old Settlers’ Reunion Grounds in Buffalo Gap, TX, just a few miles south of Abilene.

July will be here before we know it. Do you know what that means? Tour de Gap 2013 is just around the corner! Save the date now and make plans to join us on this great ride for a great cause. The ride will take place on Saturday, July 27, 2013. It will be the 30th anniversary of the Tour de Gap this year. Come on out and help us celebrate this milestone and raise money for the Food Bank at the same time!
Thanks to everyone who rode in this year’s Tour de Gap as well as our sponsors, we were able to present the Food Bank of West Central Texas with a check for $10,600. For the past five years, that number has gotten a little bit bigger every year. We can’t wait to see what it will be next year! Thanks so much for your part in helping fight hunger in the Big Country.
We’re having a bit of trouble getting the results posted online at the timing site. Cadence emailed a correct copy to us, and those results are posted below. Please remember that only the riders who wore a timing chip will show up in the results. Thanks for your patience!

Thanks to everyone who came out and rode Tour de Gap 2012! We had a great turnout – just over 360 registered riders. There is not a final dollar count yet, but we raised in the neighborhood of $10,000 for the Food Bank of West Central Texas. That’s terrific! We hope you enjoyed your Tour. We are already making plans for next year’s 30th anniversary of the Tour de Gap and hope you plan to join us again.

If you missed the online preregistration deadline, you can still register on Saturday at the venue. All riders need to show up at the packet pickup/registration area between 6:30 and 7:30 am this Saturday. If you preregistered online you will have a simple line to go through to pick up your rider packet and timing chip. Just look for the preregistered sign and then go to the table for your route length. If you are registering the day of the event, please allow a little extra time to go through the registration and timing chip line. Look for the registration sign and the form you’ll need to fill out. Payment on the day of ($40 per rider, age 14 and under free with paying adult) needs to be cash or check. Credit cards will not be accepted. Also, please remember that helmets are required for all riders, even for children in trailers.

There are 5 rest stops along the Tour de Gap routes. The first one is about 5 miles into your ride, and they are spaced about 10 miles apart after that, give or take a mile. Some routes will go by certain rest stops more than once. Each rest stop will have water, Gatorade, fruit, cookies, some other food item (varies per rest stop), and the all-important port-a-potty. There will be volunteers at each stop if you need help with anything. Here are how many rest stops you will ride by for each route:
11 mile (green route) – 1
27 mile (blue route) – 3
52 mile (orange route) – 5
77 mile (red route) – 8 (After rest stop #5, you will have about 15 miles before the next one.)
